FPOA has had a long relationship with Hartnell College. This includes mutual assistance in two areas.

Intern Opportunities

Since the mid 2010's FPOA has worked with Hartnell to provide NASA funded intern opportunities for Hartnell students. The students learn practical astronomy from our volunteers. They also have the opportunity to learn how to interact with the public to do scientific outreach. In many years they have take over control of one of FPOA's scopes

Supplemental Laboratory

Each term FPOA invites the introductory astronomy class currently taught by Dr. Pimol Moth to the observatory to view astronomical objects through our telescopes and to hear a lecture from one of our volunteers. This is something FPOA looks forward to. Several volunteers only volunteer on these evenings.

Many groups send us thank you letters after their visits. The Fall 2024 group did something extra. FPOA feels that it is only right to present it to the reader. We received a fold out card with a letter inside. This will show the reader what we received
