Objective: To provide FPOA members with a method of securing quality
observing areas and provide the San Juan Bautista Park District with
information of Park usage for astronomy.
Requirements for Reserving Telescope Pad or Lower Area Observing sites:
FPOA member in good standing
Observer class membership
Read and signed the Observing Area Policy ( Observing site
training)
Read and signed the FPOA liability wavier
Procedure for making reservation:
Contact the FPOA scheduler[1]
at least 48 hours in advance, but not more than two (2) weeks in
advance with the following information:
Member name,
requested date,
estimated arrival time,
duration of stay,
number in party (up to 10),
vehicle type and License number and
requested observing site.
The FPOA scheduler will inform requester of approval of request
and provide Gate combination.
FPOA reserves the right to suspend the observing privileges of
any member who misuses the area.
One vehicle, telescope and observing site allowed per member. Guests of
member driving other vehicles will park in approved parking areas
outside gate. State Park Day use fees for all vehicles are required.
Challenger
Telescope
Objective: To provide FPOA Observing Class members with the opportunity
to do research, astrophotography or improve their observing skills when
doing Public Programs.
Requirements for Reserving the Challenger Telescope:
Be a FPOA Member in good standing with an Observer class
membership.
Have assisted in a minimum of one (1) Public Program in the last
year.
Currently on the List of Certified Telescope Users
Procedure for making reservation:
Contact the FPOA scheduler[2] at least 48 hours in advance, but
not more than two (2) weeks in advance with the following information:
Member name,
requested date,
estimated arrival time,
duration of stay,
number in party (up to 10),
vehicle type and License number and
requested observing site

provide Gate and Observatory Lock Box combinations.
FPOA reserves the right to suspend the observing privileges of
